How to Delete Your Brie Account
Last updated: September 29, 2026
You can delete your Brie account at any time. This page explains how, and exactly what happens to your data.
---
Delete from the app
1. Open Brie and tap the Settings button. 2. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Manage Account. 3. Tap Delete Account. 4. Confirm.
That's it. Your account is deleted immediately from your side — you are signed out, your profile disappears, and no one can find you, message you, or see you in their queue.
If you can't open the app
If you've uninstalled Brie, lost access to your phone number, or your account has been restricted, email hello@itsbrie.com from any address and ask us to delete your account. Include the phone number or Instagram handle on the account so we can find it.
We'll confirm your identity, delete the account, and email you when it's done — normally within a few days, and always within 30 days.
You do not need to reinstall the app, and you do not need an active account, to make this request.
What gets deleted
Your account becomes invisible and inaccessible the moment you delete it. Full erasure finishes within 30 days.
Deleted within 30 days:
- your profile, photos, and everything you wrote on it - your answers to Brie's questions, and your compatibility results - your selfie - your messages, and your identity in every conversation - your saved handles - your device location data - your device identifiers and push notification tokens
Deleted immediately:
- the contacts you uploaded from your phone
What we keep, and why
We want to be straight about this rather than leave it vague.
Your phone number. We keep it so that someone we've removed for harassment or abuse can't simply sign up again with the same number. It's stored with restricted access and used for nothing else. If you deleted your account voluntarily and would like it removed too, email hello@itsbrie.com and we'll delete it.
The other person's copy of your conversations. A conversation belongs to two people. We delete your copy and remove your name and photo, but the person you were talking to keeps their own message history — they'll see what you sent them, from a deleted account. We can't erase someone else's record of a conversation they were part of.
Records of safety reports. If you were reported, or you reported someone, we keep the record of that investigation for 12 months so we can protect other members.
Aggregated statistics. Counts and trends that no longer identify you — for example, how many people completed onboarding in a given week. We don't try to link these back to you.
Anything we're legally required to keep, for as long as the law requires it.
Changed your mind?
Once you delete, your account is gone. There's no reactivation and no way for us to restore your profile, photos, or messages. You're welcome to sign up again any time, but you'll be starting fresh.
